Athanasios Polychronopoulos

Opa!

Quick note: from this point forward at the WSOP, we’ll be linking through to our tournament reporting content partner, the RISE Poker Blog, for full updates and recaps. We’ll still hit the big news and leads, but the dirty details will be found over here.

Quick recap: Friday was all about The Ladies at the 2011 WSOP on Friday. Big field, lotta hotties. However, The Ladies (or the douchebags who played the Ladies Event) weren’t the only story. Not when you have Athanasios Polychronopoulos vying for a bracelet.

Athanasios Polychronopoulos, who is surprisingly of Greek descent, won Event #48 ($1,500 NLH), banking his first bracelet and $650,223. He out-dueled an impressive final table, including [……….], who finished fourth ($206,348).

With that said, here are the Top 3 People We’d Like to Hear Say Athanasios Polychronopoulos:

1. Marv Albert: And Athanasios Polychronopoulos hits it from downnnntownnnn!

2. Zack de la Rocha: “With their borders and boots on top of us / Pullin’ knobs on the floor like Athanasios Polychronopoulos.”

3. Bruce Buffer: Right after a Buffer 360…can’t beat that.
