2012 WSOP Update: Selbst, Buchman Among Big Stacks

A few ex November Niners are in contention to get back to the final table at the 2012 WSOP Main Event.

Like the movie Fast & Furious, action at the 2012 WSOP Main Event was fast & furiousTM after the bubble burst.

There are only 282 left in the Main Event now. Paul Volpe leads everyone, stacked at 2,750,000. He’s followed by Erik Hellman with 2,216,000.

Volpe has primarily been an online star, racking up over $1.3M in career virtual earnings. He also kinda looks like Phil Hellmuth.

Plenty of notable names remain. Former November Niner/Cult of Personality Eric Buchman is fifth overall with 2,076,000. Vanessa Selbst, a woman who likes women, continues her ridiculous 2012 WSOP run, as she currently sits 15th in chips with 1,678,000. Another ex-November Niner, Joseph Cheong, is among the big stacks with 1,441,000. Gaelle Baumann, a woman, ended play with 1,438,000.

Others still alive you may or may not care about include LUCKY CHEW (what a wookie, 1,150,000), Gavin Smith (831,000), JP Kelly (778,000), Scott Montgomery (698,000), David Funkhouser (why not, 684,000), Jason Sommerville (640,000),
Matt Marafioti (623,000), actor Kevin Pollak (530,000), Dan Shak (419,000), Daniel Negreanu (302,000), and John Juanda (194,000).
