Alexander Kuzmin Wins WPT Southern Poker Championship

In the end, it just wasn’t meant to be.

Nobody has won the same World Poker Tour event twice. Not Temp Hutter. Not Davidson Matthew Club founder Davidson Matthew. Not Tuan Le Memorial Club member Tuan Le. Not even Ron Rose.

Allen Carter had a chance to become the first to accomplish something not even Arnold Spee has been able to pull off. But, like Chris Karagulleyan and many others, maybe it’s just meant to happen some other time.

Carter ended up in third place at the WPT Southern Poker Championship, banking $218,471.

Outlasting Carter to win the event was Alexander Kuzmin (above), who next year will begin his quest to become the WPT’s first Double EntendreTM. Kuzmin defeated the original jungleman (sort of), Leif Force heads-up for the title. For his sake, hopefully it’s not another five years before we hear form Leif again. Seriously he’s got one of the best names in poker.

For the win, Kuzmin takes home $601,469.
