This is just sick.
It’s not like Phil Ivey isn’t rich enough. He’s got approximately $10M in career tourney earnings…countless millions more from cash games (live and online)…and countless millions on top of that from whatever his stake in Full Tilt is.
On top of that, he’s banking a milli at a minimum for making the 2009 WSOP Main Event final table. And if he wins it, he’ll make a rumored $10M more from Tilt.
And then another $2 million from Andy Bloch.
Bloch was on the Hardcore Poker Show last night and admitted that when there were 2,400 players left in the Main Event, he bet Ivey 20K at 99-1 that he couldn’t close the deal.
Facing paying Ivey $2 million, he is contemplating buying out of the bet now.

Phil Gordon also bet $1000 on 100 to 1 odds that Phil Ivey wouldn’t take first place. In all fairness, he made the bet with 2500 players left in the tourney.
What’s sick is that he laid off a piece of this bet with gus hansen, so Ivey is FREEROLLING on it!!!!!!!!
How do you feel if you are Phil Hellmuth? The greatest tounament holdem poker player ever? All Phil Ivey needs is to be interested and he knocks down 2 bacelets and a main event final table in the same year? All he has to do is care? A little side money is all it took. Pokerbrat, please go be irrelevant somewhere else. You only have the bracelet record because Ivey’s summers are a little booked with side games he wishes you were in.
Too harsh? Sorry. I ramble sometimes.
I’m not very good at math… I think you can get action on Ivey around 8:1 to win the main Event. Andy Bloch has to come off $2M if Ivey wins. Why not put up $250K to Hedge his bet? Unless he can get a better deal somewhere else, of course…
