As Merch would say, “There’s more WSOP action going on than flies on a meat stick” this weekend.*
One huge story and a few unhuge ones. Here’s the latest.
:: Event #47 ($111,111 NLH) – The OneDrop final table is down to the final 4. The headliner is Antonio Esfandiari, last year’s winner. He enters final table play as short-stack with 9,200,000. Whether he finishes fourth or first, impressive run by The Magician. The big stack with four left is Bill Perkins (14,700,000). He’s followed by Tony Gregg (13,900,000). Chris Klodnicki (12,000,000) also remains. First wins over $4.8M. Side Note #1: Haralabos and [……….] were the bubble boys. Only more satisfying bubble boys would’ve been Dennis Phillips and Brandon Adams. Side Note #2: Apparently Guy L staked Chino for the event. Chino blew the $111,111 on baccarat. Wow.
:: Event #48 ($2,500 Limit Hold’em Six-Handed) – No more runner-up for Marco Johnson. After three WSOP second places (as Ricky Bobby would say, “If you’re not first…you’re last”), Johnson overcame a stacked final table that included Juha Helppi and Maria Ho, a woman, to win his first bracelet. The win earned Johnson $206,796. Get full results here.
:: Event #49 ($1,500 NLH) – A total of 2,247 entered, 21 remain. If you still care about Barney Boatman or Kevin MacPhee, then this is the tournament for you! Get remaining chip counts here.
:: Event #50 ($2,500 10-Game Mix Six-Handed) – The field is down to 20. Robert Williamson III, i.e. the original RG3**, is among the big stacks. Get full updates here.
:: Event #51 ($1,000 Ladies NLH) – A total of 954 chicks with chips entered this year’s event, with 122 surviving to Day 2. Liv Boeree is among the notable big stacks returning. Get full chip counts here.
:: Event #52 ($25,000 NLH Six-Handed) – The who’s who of NLH events drew 175 with 107 surviving the day. Just about everyone remaining is notable. Get full chip counts here.
* Completely fabricated though he should start saying this.
