Before 2012, the kid had about $680k in career cashes. Not shabby, but not world beating either.
Since January, Smith has basically shot loads all over the circuit though. First, he captured the $100k Aussie Millions event. Then he had a number six-figure cashes throughout the year. And now Smith has captured the first EPT event of the new season, winning the Barcelona €50,000 Super High Roller.
After cutting a deal with second place finisher JC Alvarado, Smith earned €962,925 for the win, pushing his 2012 earnings over the $3M mark. Alvarado takes €788,675 for second.
Illari ‘Ziigmund’ Sahamies finished fourth (€291,900) and Erik Seidel earned back some of the money he literally lit on fire for (allegedly) backing Annie Duke at the WSOP by coming in sixth (€153,600).
