I think the skill and ability of the player should be the determining factor in who makes the Hall of Fame, not age. Phil Ivey is clearly the best poker player in the world and deserves to be recognized as such.

Why shouldn't he be voted in if he is eligible and the best player out there? Dolly conceded as much in his blog. Why should age be a consideration? Chip Reese wasn't on the downside of his career when he was elected so why should we wait for Phil Ivey. As far as I'm concerned, if Chip Reese got in at 40, I don't see any reason why another player should be prevented from breaking that record when age was never made a basis for qualification. I'm not saying vote for the guy but Why Not? Of course, with only 2 votes, mine would go to Mike Sexton and Daniel Negreanu for being such great ambassadors of the game. Phil Hellmuth deserves to be there too based on his breaking the record number of WSOP bracelets held by Dolly and Johnny Chan. The aforementioned players will all become Hall of Famers, along with Barry Greenstein, Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, Scotty Nguyen, Dan Harrington, Phil Laak... so why wait? If you feel they deserve to be in NOW based on what they've accomplished NOW, then vote them in NOW. Voting them in won't prevent them from continuing to play excellent poker like Dolly et. al.

don't you have to be retired for at least five years and get voted in by the Poker Writer's Association?

The "Poker Hall of Fame" has to be the most ridiculously subjective thing I've ever seen! What the fuck does "play for high stakes, played consistently well, gained the respect of peers" mean? We're talking fucking GAMBLING here people, most of these guys are absolute degenerates!!!! Oh yeah, Chops HERE!
