It’s pretty obvious that Shannon is taking it down. She gets no respect from the other players and manages to outplay and outluck them on the key hands.
And I am not sure how “bad” it will be for poker. If by “bad” you mean that these pompous media hungry idiots (ex: Brenes, Negraneau, etc.) will have to live with the fact the Nadia took down a prestigious event, then I guess that would be real bad. Boo-fucking-hoo.
I’m really sorry, but if you start a heads up match with 100 BB and you can’t beat Shannon, maybe she knows what she’s doing?

Sorry Kajagugu but had Shannon won, from a credibility stand-point, poker would’ve taken a huge hit. Perception is reality. The mass public would’ve seen a perceived none-to-bright model/actress winning one of the most high profile poker events (even though the pros don’t necessarily see it that way, again, perception is reality), and you’d hear a lot more talk from the national media of poker being a game of “luck” that anyone can win instead of being the skill game that it is.
Having said this, Shannon Elizabeth earned her way to the final 4 with some serious solid play. She was no joke. She definitely earned it. And she was just a river card away from the finals. Hats off to her for sure.
