The 2013 WSOP has a certain 2005-07 feel to it.
The mood is up. Good vibe. People are happy. It *feels* like poker is booming again.
And look at the old school list of bracelet winners this year: Mike Matusow. Erick Lindgren. Tom Schneider. David Chiu.
Add Jeff Madsen to that list.
Madsen exploded onto the poker scene as a 21 year-old in 2006, winning two bracelets and earning WSOP Player of the Year honors. Then he banged Trishelle, focused on free style wrapping, the 9/11 Truther movement, and the poker results went down hill.
“The Kid” has clearly matured recently though, and so has his game.
In April, Madsen final tabled a WPT event. He’s now followed that showing up with his third WSOP bracelet.
Madsen won Event #35 ($3,000 PLO), earning $384,420. He owned the final table, and the win was never really in doubt.
The Intense Stare of Scott Clements finished fifth ($84,424).
