This is ridiculous and over-the-top and fantastic.
The above video is (obviously) of Phil Helluth’s WSOP Main Event entrance. Yes, he’s dressed as Julius Caesar. Yes, they’re throwing rose petals. Yes, those are girls in body paint escorting him in.
Hellmuth is among the many marquee names playing today. All told, registration is just about at 2,000. With Day 1D expecting to be full, breaking 6,000 entrants seems to be a lock now.
Here’s a non-all-inclusive list of who is playing today: Daniel Negreanu, Scotty Nguyen, Jeffrey Lisandro, John Juanda, Lacey Jones, Christina Lindley, Gavin Griffin, Dan Harrington, Howard Lederer, Liz Lieu (a woman), Brandon Cantu, Jean-Robert Bellande, not our pick to go deep this year Chino Rheem, Isabelle Mercier, Dan Druff, FOWCP John Caldwell, Liv Boeree, Evy Ng, and Jamie Gold.

Hellmuth may be the hugest egotistical cunt in professional poker, but SOMEBODY has to make an entrance., and I’m pretty sure Doyle isn’t going to pop a wheelie down the Rio hallway for his.
I essentially agree with all the other posts, but also feel sorry for him. He delusions about his celebrity are turning him insane. I wouldn’t mind it so much if it was someone with any redeeming features but every time you see him at the table he is rude and generally making a fool of himself; but this is a moment of some serious misjudgement. His family must be so ashamed…
hey guys, calm down. i understand u are never going to stop hating phil…dont like him either. But u have to appreciate the guys’ courage to do whatever is necessary to advance his business empire. poker is getting huge and his stunts are for the ‘new to poker’…its refreshing, and it WORKS!

All of you people dissing him and calling him egotistical are so dumb. Ultimate Bet paid him to do this! It’s promotion for their website. If someone paid me thousands of dollars to look and act like a douche (and be escorted by a bunch of fly honeys), I would do it in a heartbeat.
Dan – Hellmuth is already rich beyond needing to be paid ‘thousands’ to do this gig – so that’s not the motivation. It’s ego. Unrestricted, expanding ego.

Wow, that was funny. I think his greatest entrance was last year when he dressed up like he was in the army, but however this is pretty close. When he crashed the car that was pretty good as well.
The army entrance was an insult to the military, the wreck was a fraud and this was just low budget and lame. Plastic swords and shields? Low grade models? Cheap costumes? Please. This was lame all the way around. I could have SWORN I heard a guy call “PHIL PHIL!” at the beginning…PH half turns when the guy tacks on “You’re an asshole!” and PH whips back and begins marching. Hell, I think HE’S embarrassed.
