Watch JOE CADA IS YOUNGEST WSOP CHAMP on RawVegas.tv
RawVegas.tv got some interviews with
Joe Cada and
Darvin Moon right after heads-up play wrapped at the
2009 WSOP Main Event early this morning.
Moon seems in good spirits despite his loss…which $5M can magically do for you.
Just realized that like last year and 2006, the runner-up is going to end up with more money than the actual winner. In related news, who cares.
Great though Darvin ripping the interviewer for the question about the difference between first and second. Salty Darvin?

Who's the bigger winner tonight? Mikey!!!
The final table went about two hours longer than most of “us” figured.
Darvin Moon, a ginger logger, played better than many thought he was capable. “Some” might even say he outplayed
Joe Cada. But in the end, Cada prevailed, becoming the youngest
WSOP Main Event champ in history.
(Side note: the above photo kind of has a Steve Dannenmann/Salty Joe Hachem feel to it, doesn’t it?)
As we noted earlier, while the final table itself was excruciatingly long, there was a ton of drama on key hands and a great storyline of Joe Cada coming from 2.3M in chips to become the eventual winner. Should easily be the most compelling final table from a TV perspective in poker history.
A flood of news from the past couple of days, so in case you missed anything, follow the links:
:: Darvin Moon said at the press conference that he had a criminal past and then told us he was “just kidding.” But he does. And then there’s this too. Just when you thought you didn’t know a guy…
:: This former Playboy model said her mouth could only fit so much. Hee-hee!
:: Dani “Ansky” Stern joins the Brunson 10.
:: The final final table Inside Deal.
:: Jeffrey Pollack‘s final 2009 WSOP vlog.
:: Mike Sexton‘s Poker Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
:: AlCantHang tweeted: “Dennis Phillips pounced upon Darvin Moon when he left the cage.” Which reminded us of this.
:: More of The Maven.
:: Dr. Pauly‘s play-by-play of the final table action.
:: And finally, thank you to whoever gave us our all-time favorite Google search hit: is phil ivey black. Really? You need Google for that?

Joe Cada became the youngest ever winner of the WSOP Main Event.
Joe Cada has won the
2009 WSOP Main Event.
The 21 year-old Cada banks $8.5M for the win (although really after paying off his backers, Johnny Bax and Sheets, then paying off the Fed, it’s closer to 2.5Mish, but whatever). Cada is now the youngest ever WSOP Main Event winner, beating Peter Eastgate‘s record from last year.
Cada defeated Darvin Moon, a ginger logger, for the title.
Watch ESPN on Tuesday night to see how it all played out. Should make for great TV.
Because it’s already gotten buried on the site, below is the press conference from earlier today with Cada and Moon. According to the video, looks like Cada is about to hit the Palms and party up with the Maloofs. Have to say, we liked his answer on being an ambassador for the game and we hope he follows through.

Ginger logger Darvin Moon didn't waste any time in chipping up against Joe Cada.
Much like the day ended yesterday with big hand after big hand,
Darvin Moon, a ginger logger, took down a monster first pot at the
2009 WSOP Main Event as his Queens bested
Joe Cada‘s nines.
Darvin has pulled to close to even, as Cada is down to around 100,000,000 and Darvin is up to 85,000,000.
Buckle your seat belts!!!
(kidding about that last sentence…don’t buckle a fucking thing).
UPDATE: Lots of big pots. One way or another, this will be over quickly.

Watch 2009 WSOP Main Event Final Table Press Conference on RawVegas.tv
The
WSOP held a press conference at the
Masquerade Square inside the Rio for
Darvin Moon and
Joe Cada.
After Nolan Dalla (who would make an excellent ring announcer) did the introductions, “they” opened it up to the press for Q&A.
Moon actually sort of addressed that he has a criminal past (not in the video), saying that “we” could look it up, then saying that he was “just kidding.”
But more importantly than that, it looks like Joe Cada might’ve already won…in that he has a smoking hot girlfriend.
