David Benyamine Wins PartyPoker Premier League IV

David Benyamine's dominance of the PPPL4(TM) at least gave us an excuse to post pics of his super-cute ex all week.

Ok, so apparently if you’re a point leader going into final table play at the PartyPoker Premier League IV, that means you get the most chips. That’s it. It’s not like your points carry over to the final table. To win the event itself, you still need to win your final table. Got it.

That’s bad news for Phil Laak. After nearly quintupling his career earnings by winning three heats for $32,000 a piece, and taking the chip lead to the final table, he was the first to bow out of play.

In the end, David Benyamine devoured the competition, winning the PPPL4TM and engorging himself in the $400,000 first place prize. Benyamine ate up his opponents chips and literally picked the bones of his competitors. “Some” might say the chips at the table were a veritable all-you-can-eat buffet to Benyamine.

Seriously though, Benymamine = one of the best.

Phil Laak Wins Heat 2 of PartyPoker Premier League IV; Benyamine Wins Heat 3

David Benyamine in the news = pictures of Erica Schoenberg. So keep it up, Mr. B.

Not sure what’s going on here, but Phil Laak went back-to-backTM over the weekend, winning the first two heats, whatever that means, of the PartyPoker Premier League IV.

Laak banked another $32,000 for the win, meaning this weekend he like quintupled his career earnings.

The third heatTM of the PPPL4TM was won by David Benyamine, who like Laak greatly out-kicked his coverage in the girl department back when he was with Erica Schoenberg.

Overall, Laak leads everyone in points, which apparently you accumulate en route to eventually being the winner?

We might have to go to the M Resort in Las Vegas on Tuesday to investigate what the hell this whole PPPL4TM thing is.

In the meantime, try to make sense of it all here.

David Benyamine, Patrik Antonius, Phil Ivey Accept Tom “Durrr” Dwan’s $1M Challenge

Tom-durrrr-dwan
This million dollar heads up challenge could end up being Durrr's second worst idea ever.

So it's popping up here, here, and here that David Benyamine, Patrik Antonius, and Phil Ivey have all accepted Tom "Durrr" Dwan's $1M heads up challenge.

For a recap, as first reported by Bluff Magazine here, Durrr said:

“I’m making this heads-up challenge to the world. Anyone can accept. Four tables, minimum of $200/$400, and I’ll put up $1.5 million to their $500,000. We play 50,000 hands minimum and if they end up a dollar after rake they keep the side money or whatever. So basically, if you and I played and you won a dollar, you would get my $1.5 million and if I won a dollar I would win your $500,000.

“So I’m giving a million dollars free if anyone thinks they can do it.”

No shocker that Ivey jumped all over that, even though he usually plays two tables at a time versus Durrr's four. Not surprised that Antonius and Benymaine (reportedly) have though. Ivey had the best line regarding the challenge so far, saying on Tuesdays with Ivey:

"I've never posted a challenge because I just assume everyone knows I'll play anyone in any game."

Ivey said it's possible at these stakes you could lose $5 to $10 mil. Should be fun. We'll keep you posted.

David Benyamine [Does Not] Wins WPT Bellagio Cup IV

Mike Watson not David Benyamine wins WPT Bellagio Cup IV
EDITOR’S NOTE:
This post was written when it looked like David Benyamine was on track to win the WPT Bellagio Cup IV. When we woke up this morning, it turns out he did not. However, we did not feel like writing a new post on 24 year-old online poker pro Mike Watson winning (who banked over $1.6M), so we’re just rolling with this.

David Benyamine is on a roll. A sweet, sticky, yummy, cinammon roll.

Having crushed multiple WSOP events and just missing out on WSOP Player of the Year, Benyamine continued a great ’08 by capturing his second WPT title with the Bellagio Cup IV. [Editor's Note: Except he didn't.]

Whether this lands him the Blue Diamond Almonds Bold Player of the Day is yet to be seen, but wethinks he deserves it. Hmmmm…a year supply of almonds.

Regardless, with a hot ass gf in Erica Schoenberg and another WPT title to solidify his status as one of the world’s top players, maybe we should consider gaining a few lbs ourselves.

2008 WSOP Update: David Benyamine Livin’ Large, Wins First Bracelet

David Benyamine wins bracelet at 2008 WSOP
David Benyamine (above, front center) battled a stacked final table to win his first bracelet earlier today.

Working off some general fog from the Gnarls Barkley concert at Mandalay Bay beach so we’re light on the preamble for this WSOP update. However, of note, the sitarist for opening act Thievery Corporation is a dead ringer for Dutch Boyd. Seriously could’ve been him. Dutch, do you have wicked sitar chops that we’re unaware of?

::  Event #35 ($1,500 No Limit Hold’em) - Here’s a final table that would’ve been infinitely more interesting if Bryan Micon out lasted another six eliminations to join the remaining nine (get Micon’s latest Degenerate Report here). Aaron Kanter, he of 2005 WSOP final table fame, made a run from short-stack to finish third, which pretty much constitutes the "big story" on this one.  Jesper Hougaard started the day as chip leader and ended the day as chip leader, winning his first bracelet and banking $610,304. Get full results here.

:: Event #35 ($10,000 Omaha Hi/Lo) - David Benyamine is having a helluva month. Aside from waking up next to Erica Schoenberg every morning, Benyamine banked almost $1.5M on Full Tilt Poker last month. Today he added another $535,687 to his bankroll after taking down the World Championship of Omaha Hi/Lo. Benyamine defeated Greg Jamison heads-up for the title. The win vaults Benyamine to second overall in the 2008 World Series of Poker Player of the Year standings, trailing Jacobo Fernadez by two points. Toto Leonidas finished fourth, Mike "The Mouth" Matusow fifth. Get full payouts here.

:: Event #36 ($2,000 Pot Limit Hold’em) - Michael Binger will have to wait a little longer for his first WSOP bracelet. After holding the chip lead for most of Event #36, the cashing machine just missed another final table, bowing out in 11th. Instead the exceedingly pretentiously named Jan Christoph Von Halle will start final table play with the chip lead, stacked at 485,000. He’s followed by 2007 WSOP Main Event final table-ist Lee Watkinson-Markholt with 357,000. Watkinson-Markholt is going for his second bracelet. In fourth overall is Ayaz Mahmood, who let’s just say we’d watch his every move like a fucking hawk if he sat next to us on a flight. Why doesn’t he have any carry-on luggage? Why only a book? He’s been in the bathroom an awfully long time. Whew ok he sat back down and is now buckling his seat belt. First pays out $$244,583. Get full chip counts here.

:: Event #37 ($1,500 No Limit Hold’em) - Another mega-field, with 2,720 entrants paying out a first place prize of $631,656. Only 218 survived to Day 2. Michael Polcari takes the chip lead into action today with 130,000. Making his own push for 2008 WSOP Player of the Year honors is Barry Greenstein, who started off strong and is stacked at 89,600.
