David Williams Is Running Good

David Williams Girlfriend is Hot

Like his girlfriend today (above), David Williams is having a bust-out year in 2010.

This has been a damn good year for David Williams and his new do and not just because he won the WPT Championship in April, taking home $1.5 million. Or because he inked a deal with the largest poker site PokerStars in June. Or because he’s currently above-average stacked with 101k in chips after the dinner break on Day 2. No, it’s been a good year because somewhere along the way he landed the super hot girlfriend you see in the photos above and below. And when it comes down to it, it isn’t about the money or fame. That stuff comes and goes. Hot chicks with fantastic racks though, they’re forever.

Okay, they come and go too but you can’t bang money or fame.

David Williams Signs with PokerStars; Shannon Elizabeth Signs with Carbon

Time to put a PokerStars cap on that head...

PokerStars has an impressive roster. No doubt about it. Even the random Euros they’ve signed that we’ve never heard of are smart choices on Stars’ end, because people who live in those Eastern block countries we’ve never heard of that are into weird porn know and like the aforementioned Euros we’ve never heard of before, so, you know, gooooo Marketing!

However, one thing Stars has been missing is a brother.

And a lesbian.

Until now.

PokerStars has scooped up a fresh-off-his-WPT-Championship win David Williams, and a fresh-off-her-NAPT-win, Vanessa Selbst. Good score for Stars as both are respected pros that can broaden their marketing reach.

In related but kind of unrelated news, Carbon Poker has signed a fresh-off-her-taking-a-rake-in-her-Hollywood-home-game Shannon Elizabeth to a sponsorship deal. This makes Shannon’s 47th endorsement deal (give or take) in poker. Read about it here.

David Williams Wins 2010 WPT Championship

David Williams wins the 2010 WPT Championship.

He fell just one short of winning the WSOP Main Event in 2004 (fuck, was that really 6 years ago? was Bush really just finishing up his first term? was he really a two term president? is Obama actually a US citizen?) but last night David Williams and his new look were able to get it done at the 2010 WPT Championship, taking home the tour’s biggest title and a top prize of $1.53 mil.

The win marks Williams’ first ever WPT title and brings his tournament winnings to over $7 mil lifetime.

Finishing in second was Eric “BaseBaldy” Baldwin, Card Player’s Player of the Year in 2009. Obviously playing for the win, Baldwin seemed okay with his runner-up winnings of just over a million, telling Mike Sexton afterwards, “Second place is bittersweet but I’ll wipe my tears with seven figures.”

As everything you just read implies, Phil Hellmuth did not win. The 11-time WSOP bracelet winner once again came up short of grabbing his first WPT title, this time bubbling the TV final table, finishing in 7th place.

Here’s what the top 6 looked like:

1st Place: David Williams – $1,530,537
2nd Place: Eric Baldwin – $1,034,715
3rd Place: Shawn Buchanan – $587,906
4th Place: David Benyamine – $329,228
5th Place: Billy Baxter – $246,921
6th Place: John O’Shea – $199,888

John O’Shea Leads WPT Championship; Williams, Benyamine, Nguyen Lurk

Watch David Williams Makes WPT Final 10 on RawVegas.tv

The 2010 WPT Championship is shaping up to be one of the best TV final tables in a long time.

With 10 players remaining, eight are legit, recognizable names. Leading the way is not one of those, as John O’Shea from Ireland claimed the chip lead on the last few hands of play, stacked at 3,174,000.

Scotty Nguyen is second overall, after flopping top set (9′s) against one-time chip leader David Williams‘ pocket 10′s. Despite his “I bruff you wif eight-free” hand from the 2003 WSOP, Nguyen is probably the tightest player on tour. As Gavin Smith commented to us when they were all-in, “If Scotty is all-in against David after the flop, there’s a 100% chance he’s got the best hand.” Nguyen is sitting with 2,637,000.

David Benyamine is third at 2,561,000, and the aforementioned David Williams (above, vlogging, stoked on Blue Diamond Almonds here) is still fourth at 2,459,000.

Also remaining are Billy Baxter (2,429,000), Eric Baldwin (2,130,000), Johnny “Cliff Josephy” Bax (1,269,000), Shawn Buchanan (1,087,000), Nikolay Evdakov (922,000), and a free-falling-in-the-last-30-mins-of-play Phil Hellmuth (839,000).

Follow the actionTM starting at 3pm ET here.
