Wicked Chops Poker Podcast Ep. 1

Erick Lindgren (above) joins WCP (not above) for our first podcast.

We’re officially podcasting motherfuckers.

Below is the first Wicked Chops Poker Podcast (sans Snake, who just ran a 56-mile race in South Africa, not kidding). For the first “show” (show?) we’re joined by WSOP Media Director Seth Palansky, our creepin’ Girls on the Rail photographer Charles, and 2008 WSOP Player of the Year, Erick Lindgren.

Palansky talks about web issues and numbers. Charles talks about creepin. And Lindgren discusses prop bets, starting the WSOP with a big buy-in event, and who he likes in the NBA finals.

2009 Year In Review: Erick Lindgren Pwns Dane Cook

You know Norm, the only thing that would ruin this moment for me is having to sit through an entire Dane Cook performance...

You know Norm, the only thing that would ruin this moment for me is having to sit through an entire Dane Cook performance...

Continuing our look back at some of our favorite stories of 2009, we almost forgot about this one: Erick Lindgren absolutely pwning Dane Cook.

From a Feb 17th post (from a 2+2 thread):

Erick Lindgren and some friends went to a comedy show with Dane Cook as the headliner. Ten minutes into the Dane Cook set Lindgren et. al left the building because they didn’t really think that Dane Cook was funny. Dane from the stage, in a large building, says:

“Where the hell are you all going?!?”

“We’re leaving because your show sucks and you’re not funny,” responds Erick.

“Just walk back out that door to the unemployment line!”

“You know what? I am unemployed, have been for a long time, and make more money than you do. If I had my own Showtime special then I might even be funny too.”

We later talked to Erick and confirmed the details. He had planned to purchase a block of 100 tickets at a Dane Cook Las Vegas show a few months later, having a bunch of people get up and walk out, but the show conflicted with another event he was attending so it didn’t happen.

WCFF PoRo $5k Draft

Watch EXCLUSIVE: World Championship Of Fantasy Football 5k Draft on RawVegas.tv

Judging by the reaction most of you had to our WCFF Giveaway, our reader base aren’t big fantasy football players.

But we know you are gamblers, so the 2009 FFL season got off to a big start in Vegas this weekend with the World Championship of Fantasy Football. And the first draft of the WCFF was the PoRo $5k.

Daniel Negreanu, Erick Lindgren, Peter “Nordberg” Feldman, Paul Wasicka, Blake Stepp, Martin de Knijff and others picked their squads to compete for a $25k first place prize (plus a ton of side action).

Unfortunately not among the side action was Daniel Negreanu getting $20k for eating an In-n-Out burger. He wanted $147k. Sounds exactly like what happened at our old office FFL leagues. Except the bets were more like, “I’ll bet you $10 you can’t figure out in 30 seconds what my retirement savings will be in this deferred comp plan if I put 15% earnings aside for 35 years.”

Crazy sonsofbitches in the insurance industry. You have no idea, man.

Jeffrey Lisandro Wins Second 2009 WSOP Bracelet, Takes Prop Bet Lead

Farzad Rouhani (foreground) fought hard for the Event #37 title, however the battle eventually climaxed with Jeffrey Lisandro's second 2009 WSOP bracelet.

Jeffrey Lisandro won Event #37 ($10,000 7CS Hi/Lo) to claim his second gold bracelet of the 2009 WSOP.

While Lisandro banks $431,656 for the win, he stands to win even more by effectively putting one of the biggest prop bets of this year’s WSOP on ice. Barry Greenstein teamed with Lisandro to place his largest Player of the Year prop bet against Daniel Negreanu and Erick Lindgren. Team SteindroTM had a slight lead going into Event #37. Now after the win, Lisandro has tied for the lead in the POY race with Ville Wahlbeck, both tabbing 255 points. Negreanu is a full bracelet win behind with 165 points. Greenstein and Lindgren have been cashing a lot, but neither have gone very deep in an event, and have 35 and 20 points respectively. Both are still alive and stacked well however in the $10k PLO championship.

Lisandro defeated Farzad Rouhani ($266,804) heads-up for the title. Mike Wattel finished third ($176,605) and Doyle Brunson placed seventh ($62,234). Get full payouts here.

2009 WSOP Update: Negreanu, Duke Make $10k Omaha 8B Final Table

The Intense Stare of Scott Clements is intensely staring down a potential third bracelet.

The Intense Stare of Scott Clements is intensely staring down a potential third bracelet.

Daniel Negreanu is crushing the 2009 WSOP.

In an impressive response to Jeffrey Lisandro‘s Event #16 victory (and to his own crushing runner-up finish in Event #14), Negreanu has stepped up and final tabled yet another event. He is currently fourth in chips going into final table play in Event #18 ($10,000 Omaha 8B). A win here would put him and Erick Lindgren way out in front in their POY prop bets with Barry Greenstein and company. Negreanu trails the intense stare of Scott Clements (staring intensely above), who is chip leader with 1,445,000. Also alive are John Monnette (940,000), Daniel Alaei (540,000), and Annie Duke (225,000). We’ll have a Negreanu vlog from the break up soon.

Elsewhere, the Ladies Event is playing down its final table now. How do we know this? Because any time one of the ladies wins a hand, her cheering section screams like a sorority girl who hears the first few bars of “Come on Eileen” in a cheesy dance club.

Elsewhere elsewhere, less than 80 remain in Event #19 ($2,500 NLH Six-Handed). Among those remaining is aforementioned Erick Lindgren, racking up more POY points for the aforementioned prop bets. Layne Flack, Brock Parker, Men the Master (he’s still alive?), and Howard Lederer also remain.

Not alive in the Omaha 8B championship or any other event right now is Jean-Robert Bellande, who below discusses his now not-so-secret secret weapon which didn’t turn out to be much of a weapon at all.
