Jason Mercier Wins NAPT $25k High Rollers Shoot-Out

Is Jason Mercier the new spectacularly-breasted J.C. Tran?

Jason Mercier…what a luckbox.

He already has seven cashes in 2010. He’s won nine events in two years (including a WSOP bracelet and two EPT titles). He has deep runs or wins in no limit hold’em, H.O.R.S.E., pot limit omaha, and seven card stud tournaments.

Now, Mercier adds a NAPT High Rollers title to his growing list of horseshoe-in-his-ass accomplishments. Mercier captured the Mohegan Sun $25k Shoot-Out, defeating Sam Stein heads-up for the title and banking $450,000. The win boosted Mercier’s career tourney earnings to over $4.7M. Luckbox.

Likely WPT Player of the Year luckbox Faraz Jaka finished third.

Jason Mercier Leads WSOP Europe Final Table

Not quite the WSOPE Main Event final table but it's pretty close.

The WSOP Europe Main Event has played down to a pretty sick final table.

Two-time EPT and one-time bracelet winner Jason Mercier has the chip lead, stacked  3,198,000. He’s followed by November NinerTMJames Akenhead with 1,398,000. Another N9′er, Antoine Saout (the French one), is sixth overall with 701,000.

Making his second consecutive WSOPE Main Event final table is a short-stacked Daniel Negreanu with 438,000.

And like son like father, Barry Shulman makes the final table, stacked at 1,090,000.

With so many tournaments going on yesterday at the 2009 WSOP, we’ll split this round-up into two parts: completed tourneys and still in action ones.

:: Event #4 ($1,000 NLH): Steve Sung outlasted a field of 6,012 to capture the Stimulus Event, turning his $1k buy-in into a $771,106 first place prize. He defeated Panayote Vilandos heads-up for the title and his first bracelet. Dan Heimiller, a ginger, finished sixth. Get full payouts and recaps here. Extra bonus of Sung at the final table with a GOTR that makes us just wanna sing, “Go Cubs Go!”

:: Event #5 ($1,500 PLO): After being at or near the top of the chip lead for the entire tournament, Jason Mercier pulled out a win in Event #5. This is Mercier’s first bracelet (he has two EPT titles). The 22 year-old banks $237,415 for the win. Mercier defeated Steven “PiKappRaider” Burkholder for the title. :: Event #6 ($10,000 Seven Card Stud): Freddie Ellis, an older gent better known around NYC and Atlantic City, captured the Seven Card Stud championship event and $373,744. He defeated Eric Drache for the title, who will bank $231,014 for second. Max Pescatori finished fourth and Hassan Habib is still alive and finished fifth. Get full results here.

John Juanda Is Running Good, Does Not Win EPT London High Roller Event

On the heels of winning the WSOPE Main Event, John Juanda, who if he was of Latin decent would be named Juan Johanda, placed second in the £20,000 EPT High Roller Event, banking an additional £327,000 to the £868,800 he claimed last week.

Juanda lost heads-up to Jason Mercier, who is actually running even better than he is. Mercier banks £516,000 for the High Rollers win. Mercier final tabled WSOPE event number three last week and won the EPT San Remo earlier this year. Dude is running so good, we’re even giving him his own Category tag. Welcome to the big time, kid.

Others in the money included Scotty Nguyen (fifth, £137,000), Isaac Haxton (sixth, £103,000), David Benyamine (eighth, £69,000), and Isabelle Mercier, a woman who according to some so-called "Internet" forums is still dating Dario Minieri wtf (£51,000). We’d do the U.S. American conversions for you but that would require math.

November NineTM hostage Dennis Phillips was eliminated on the bubble.
