Jeffrey Lisandro Wins 2010 WSOP Europe Bracelet

Jeffrey Lisandro has won five WSOP bracelets since 2007, more than anyone else.

Jeffrey Lisandro defeated a deep final table to win 2010 WSOP Europe Event #2 (£5,250 PLO).

The aforementioned final table included Chris Bjorin (8th – £18,564), John Racener (5th – £39,486), Jeff Madsen (4th – £52,542), Joe Serock (2nd – £98,262). Not exactly 1927 Yankees deep, but definitely “casually mention those guys were at the final table while making it look like you’re not bragging to your friends about the win” good.

For the aforementioned win, Lisandro banks £159,000 and his fifth WSOP bracelet. Guy is good. Get a full tourney recap here.

In related news, 530 entered WSOP-E Event #3 (£1,075 NLH). As of post-timeTM, around 125 remain. Some notable big stacks include Frank Kassela, Dan Shak, and Allen Cunningham. Get full chip counts here.

2009 WSOP Main Event Update: Jeffrey Lisandro Among Day 1C Chip Leaders

Lacey Jones won't be around to pretty up Day 2. However, expect a hot girls from Day 1C photo dump coming later today.

In some ways, it feels like the 2009 WSOP Main Event didn’t really get going until Day 1C.

The big names came out in full force. Phil Hellmuth did his most ridiculously over-the-top and awesome entrance (this time as Caesar) to date. Say what you will about creating a spectacle and being an egomaniac, poker needs more fun, publicity-driven stunts like this. And finally, we had a field size that felt like the Main Event, with 1,696 entered. Today should be fun, with an anticipated field of 2,500+.

Joe Cada ended Day 1C as chip leader, stacked at 187,000. Among the big named big stacks (chip counts are approximate) are Jeffrey Lisandro (145,000), Justin Bonomo (112,000), Kevin Saul (108,000), Amnon Filippi (98,000), Joe Hachem (87,000), Tuan Le (85,000), and Hevad Khan (84,000).

Others surviving include Scotty Nguyen, Howard Lederer, Phil Hellmuth, Christina Lindley (a woman), and Isabelle Mercier (a woman).

Big name bust outs include Liv Boeree, Marcel Luske, Erica Schoenberg, Brandon Cantu, John Caldwell, Lacey Jones, Jamie Gold, Chino Rheem, Evy Ng, and Daniel Negreanu.

Jeffrey Lisandro Wins Third 2009 World Series of Poker Bracelet

Jeffrey Lisandro is an Australian who lives in Italy, which means he has something in common with Cristina Buccino, an Italian model who also lives in Italy.

Jeffrey Lisandro is an Australian who lives in Italy, which means he has something in common with Cristina Buccino, an Italian model who also lives in Italy.

In what the so-called poker “media” is calling the “Stud Triple CrownTM,” Jeffrey Lisandro has won his third bracelet of the 2009 WSOP, capturing Event #44 ($2,500 Razz) and banking $188,390.

Lisandro won Seven Card Stud and Stud Eight or Better events already this year. With this third bracelet, Lisandro is putting the POY race almost completely out of reach. And if he were to capture one more title, he’d break the WSOP bracelet record for one year.

Lisandro defeated “The Professor, The Banker, and The Suicide King” author Michael Craig ($116,405) heads-up for the title.

With Daniel Negreanu‘s Big Swing charity event today and our WCP Dream Team Poker freeroll, we won’t have time for a full 2009 WSOP Round-Up. However, one nice story is that Justin Shronk‘s girlfriend’s father, Michael Davis, won the $1,000 NLH Senior’s Event. With his cousin also winning a bracelet this year, looks like there is some sort of divine intervention going on here…

And oh yeah, get more of Cristina Buccino here.

2009 WSOP Round-Up: Jeffrey Lisandro Goes For Third Bracelet

Fabrice Soulier (left foreground) was one of the many who wasn't able to chip up and advance to Day 2 of the $2,500 Mixed event.

During the ESPN WSOP Fantasy Draft, Daniel Negreanu and Howard Lederer were going on and on about what a good pick Jeffrey Lisandro was in the second round. We’ve always considered Lisandro a great player, but he wasn’t on our radar for the second round. What suddenly made him “make the leap” into a second round caliber guy? Now, we’re not suggesting nor implying anything, but what kind of performance enhancer is he on this year? What did Negreanu and Lederer know that no one else did? Because Jeffrey Lisandro is just straight up pwning the 2009 WSOP in a way that could, after today, go down in the record books. Here’s the run-down:

:: Event #41 ($5,000 NLH Shoot-Out): This is the epic-final-table-that-wasn’t, as Phil Ivey, David “The Dragon” Pham*, Peter “Nordberg” Feldman, Barney Boatman, and other big names all just missed out. Instead, Peter Trapley takes down this friends and family TM final table, banking $348,728. He defeated Andrew Lichtenberger ($215,403) for the title. Get full results and payouts here.

:: Event #42 ($2,500 Mixed): After two second place finishes in the past three years, Jerrod Ankenman breaks through and wins his first bracelet, banking $241,637. Ankenman co-authored the New York Times Best Seller The Mathematics of Poker with Bill Chen. We’re sure it’s a real page-turner. Jon “Pearljammer” Turner finished fifth ($49,568), Layne Flack seventh ($30,673), and Jimmy Fricke ninth ($18,099). Get full event payouts here.

:: Event #43 ($1,000 NLH Seniors): There are still 28 remaining. Jeez. That’s what you get when you have to take dinner breaks at 3pm and finish play by 6 in time for Wheel of Fortune. Get chip counts here.

:: Event #44 ($2,500 Razz): Never thought this would be the case, but all eyes will be on the Razz tourney today. The aforementioned Jeffrey Lisandro holds the chip lead going into Day 3, stacked at 438,000. He’s followed by Steve Diano with 302,000. It’s just like high school. If he can hold on, Lisandro would win his third bracelet of the 2009 WSOP, ice Player of the Year, and without a doubt put the large prop bet he holds with Barry Greenstein against Daniel Negreanu and Erick Lindgren to bed. Also still alive, albeit as the short-stack, is the man Lisandro is currently tied with for POY, Ville Wahlbeck, with 55,000. Get full chip counts here.

:: Event #45 ($10,000 PLH): After two days, 85 of the original 275 still remain. Michiel Brummelhuis is the chip leader, stacked at 330,200. Some notables remaining include but are certainly not limited to Toto Leonidas (241,100), David “The Dragon” Pham* (187,500), Isaac Haxton (141,400), Simpsons co-creator Sam Simon (140,900), and Erik Seidel (118,500). Get full chip counts here.

:: Event #46 ($2,500 Omaha Hi/Lo): Aaaand finally, 425 entered with 216 remaining. Lots of play to go so just get chip counts here.

* Not a real dragon.

Jeffrey Lisandro Wins Second 2009 WSOP Bracelet, Takes Prop Bet Lead

Farzad Rouhani (foreground) fought hard for the Event #37 title, however the battle eventually climaxed with Jeffrey Lisandro's second 2009 WSOP bracelet.

Jeffrey Lisandro won Event #37 ($10,000 7CS Hi/Lo) to claim his second gold bracelet of the 2009 WSOP.

While Lisandro banks $431,656 for the win, he stands to win even more by effectively putting one of the biggest prop bets of this year’s WSOP on ice. Barry Greenstein teamed with Lisandro to place his largest Player of the Year prop bet against Daniel Negreanu and Erick Lindgren. Team SteindroTM had a slight lead going into Event #37. Now after the win, Lisandro has tied for the lead in the POY race with Ville Wahlbeck, both tabbing 255 points. Negreanu is a full bracelet win behind with 165 points. Greenstein and Lindgren have been cashing a lot, but neither have gone very deep in an event, and have 35 and 20 points respectively. Both are still alive and stacked well however in the $10k PLO championship.

Lisandro defeated Farzad Rouhani ($266,804) heads-up for the title. Mike Wattel finished third ($176,605) and Doyle Brunson placed seventh ($62,234). Get full payouts here.
