Jessica Jane Clement Brings You Today’s Poker News

Time to elevate Jessica Jane Clement to Girl of the Year status.

As the saying goes, hindsight is retrospect. Or retrospect is 20/20. Something like that. Point is, last year, we should’ve just made Jessica Jane Clement our official Wicked Chops Girl of the Year. We were hoping for a break-out from Danica Thrall, but she only released a handful of photos. JJC (as we call her) was hotter and more prolific. So let’s tab her as the likely Girl of the Year for 2012, just get it out of the way now, and get on with the poker news link dump.

Jessica Jane Clement Is The Friday Night Parting Shot

These new pics of Jessica Jane Clement are so good, they serve dual-duty as Friday Night Parting Shot and link dump pics.

Ok, we’re about 12 hours late on the Friday Night Parting Shot, but as they say in Mexico, “más vale tarde que nunca.”

Aside from WSOP Europe updates (follow here), we’ll be very light on posting for the next week as we wrap up our first batch of Wicked Chops Insider content. Buuuut we’re pretty sure that these pics of WCP staple Jessica Jane Clement (no relation to The Intense Stare of…) more than makes up for that.

If you are looking for some poker news though, here are some quick links:

Full Tilt Poker Issues New Statement, Cutting Costs

Full Tilt Poker is shedding costs like Jessica Jane Clement is shedding clothes.

On the heels of their AGCC hearing next week, Full Tilt Poker has issued another statement regarding the company’s finances.

Key excerpts have been expertly copied & posted in the following blockquote:

“…Pocket Kings Ltd. (provider of marketing and technology services to Full Tilt Poker) has adopted a cost optimization program and estimates that they need to reduce their costs by approximately €12m. This program is intended to streamline the company’s operations in order to better position itself for future growth and profitability in Full Tilt Poker’s markets outside of the U.S…If all of the required cost savings were to be achieved through redundancies, approximately 250 positions could be affected…Pocket Kings firmly believes it has a very strong future in Full Tilt Poker’s Non-US Markets, and is fully committed to ensuring Full Tilt Poker restores the site and repay players in full….Full Tilt Poker has retained Sea Port Group Securities, LLC as its financial advisor with regard to raising capital and/or assisting in securing a strategic partner in order to fund continued operations…”

We’re not trying to be pithy, but when you lose 50% of your business and owe a few hundred million to your players and the DoJ, those €12m in reduced costs (monthly? annually?) should’ve happened sooner.

But like everything with Tilt, better later than never.

Read more about the cost cutting measures in the full statement here.

PokerCon: Zynga Poker Hosting Vegas Event

Let's get Jessica-Jane Clement added to that list of celebs at PokerCon...

Well this is interesting.

As noted earlier in the week (sort of), Zynga Poker–the third most popular game on Facebook–which has about double-to-triple the amount of live customers on it at any given time than PokerStars–aaand a total of 37M total monthly players–is getting well-positioned to be a major player industry this year.

With that in mind, it was leaked on blogs.games.com that on Monday, Zynga will announce PokerCon. The event would be Zynga’s first big splash in the industry.

PokerCon will take place at the Palms on March 18-19 and include “a live poker tournament with a grand prize of $100 thousand.”

Some professional poker players and celebs are also apparently in-the-works to attend.

Read more about PokerCon here.

Phil Laak, Chris Bjorin Go For WSOP Europe Event #1 Bracelet

Brit Jessica Jane Clement has yet to appear at the 2010 WSOP Europe. Yet.

Ok ok we get it. The WSOP Europe is still getting its proverbial feet wet. It’s nowhere near the size and scale of the U.S. American version. That’s fine.

But still, what’s this one-event-a-day shit? If poker is really booming that much in the Old World, and all of these “legal” sites can theoretically dump a bunch of idiot Northern Europeans into tournaments, can’t they expand the number of events and participants just a little? Does Europe not have convention areas capable of handling more than 300 people at a time? Did they lose a war?*

Anyway, 2010 WSOP Europe Event #1 (£2,650 NLH Six-Handed) played down to its final table table. Among the notables chasing a bracelet are Chris Bjorin (368,500) and Phil Laak (317,000). If Laak were to pull through for the victory, it would be the biggest comeback ever by a poker player 6-weeks after almost losing an eyeball and breaking all sorts of shit during an ATV accident.

They both trail overall chip leader Andrew Pantling (627,000).

Get full chip counts here.

* The answer to this is “no” because we keep bailing them out.
