isildur1 has made his long-awaited return to high-stakes action on
Full Tilt.
In around a 30-hour session, isildur1 logged $732,753 in earnings.
And again, a good chunk of those winnings came from durrrr. In fact, the only pro that made a dent in isildur1’s bankroll during the session was Isaac Haxton, who posted a profit of around $90,000 in NLH heads-up action. From there, isildur1 decimated Justin Bonomo’s bankroll for $567,515, and then took the aforementioned durrrr for around $232,000.
After getting in the positive against durrrr, isildur1 tried to switch games from PLO to NLH. This set off durrrr, who typed in the chat box:
ur too annoying to deal with / play for hours then the second u get up u want new game
Good stuff. Expect another flood of nosebleed action the next week until the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship.
Read the full durrrr/isildur1 chat transcript and recap of isildur1’s session here.
UPDATE: Interestingly, the guy many think is isildur1, Viktor Blom, is playing the EPT Copenhagen event on Wednesday. While we’re not exactly detectives, we have watched enough Batman movies to know that if isildur1 logs a few hours of high-stakes action while Viktor Blom is playing the EPT Copenhagen event, that would probably put some rumors to rest. Follow Blom at the EPT Copenhagen event here.
UPDATE II: Looks like Blom has been eliminated (here).

The
2009 WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic All-Star Spectacular got underway Monday with 292 entrants. Registration continues through level 8 today, so the field should push to over 300 when all is said and done and the math geeks who waited out Day 1 take their seats.
Darryl Fish ended Day 1 as chip leader, stacked at 236,625. He’s followed by Jon “Pearljammer” Turner, a ginger, with 227,325.
Some big names are among the other big stacks. One-time 2009 WSOP Main Event chip leader Billy Kopp is stacked at 201,325. Others include but are certainly not limited to Carlos Mortensen (194,525), Antonio Esfandiari (184,225), David Benyamine (157,225), Jimmy Fricke (145,600), and Dutch Boyd (128,225).
Justin Bonomo is among the shorter stacks, with just over 40,000. Get his take on the day in the above vlog.

Among the bigger stacks at the
WPT Festa al Lago is
Justin Bonomo.
In his latest vlog, Bonomo talks about being able to register until level 8 of Day 2 in WPT events (he likes it) and if he thinks Falcon is actually more of a diabolical mastermind behind the spacecraft letting-go-hoax as opposed to a poor kid being manipulated by his father (he does).
Oh wait, the second half of that sentence wasn’t discussed by Bonomo. But he’s a smart guy, so he probably thinks that.

Justin Bonomo (left foreground) is one of the young pros looking capture the $50,000 World Championship H.O.R.S.E. title.
While the big poker news today at the 2009 WSOP is that the three winners of our Dream Team Poker freeroll are all women (seriously… we’re being punked right?), the other big news is that only 95 players ponied up the steep buy-in for Event #49, the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. World Championship. This was after only 50 had reportedly registered by tournament start, prompting an hour delay to allow more players time to scrounge up the cash to buy-in.
This is a huge drop from last year’s field of 148 and brings the total prize purse to just over $4.5 million, a $2.6 million decrease from last year’s purse.
Only 16 will get paid with first taking home $1,276,802, compared to the $1,989,120 Scotty Nguyen won in 2008.
The poor turnout is no doubt a disappointment for WSOP officials and a step back for this prestige event, but isn’t surprising considering no ESPN coverage, the hit a lot of players have taken this past year and with deep pocket pros keeping smaller stables of players they stake.
While the field is still loaded with many of the biggest pros in the game — and we’re not just talking about Greg Raymer and David Benyamine kind of big — some notable absences today include Phil Hellmuth, Ted Forrest, Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Hoyt Corkins, Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond and last year’s runner-up Michael DeMichele.
Only two women are in the field: Jennifer Harman, a woman, and Annie Duke, a woman. Noticeably absent: Isabelle Mercier’s breasts.
Follow the action here.
* Fuck. We went there.

Hey Lizzy, is that a digital voice recorder in your pocket or are you just happy to see us? And what is Rhynie Campbell doing in the background in a dealer outfit?
While Phil Ivey capturing his sixth WSOP bracelet was definitely the story of the day, there was plenty of other action going on in the Rio Amazon Room. Here’s the round-up:
:: Event #7 ($1,500 NLH): Travis Johnson defeated a friends and familyTM final table (and a total field of 2,791) to capture his first bracelet and $666,853. Johnson defeated Steven Karp (not this one though) heads-up for the title. Get full results here.
:: Event #9 ($1,500 NLH Six-Handed): This one is shaping up to be another friends and family final table. Play was stopped at 3am PT with 8 remaining. They’ll come back today at 1pm PT to lose two, then play out the final table. Charles Furey currently leads with 1,690,000. Praz Bansi is the only bracelet winner in the field, having captured one of those lame $1,000 buy-in events played after the Main Event started back in 2006. Full chip counts here.
:: Event #10 ($2,500 PLH/PLO): Just 18 now remain of the 453 starting field. A couple of online gurus lead, with Daniel ‘amichaiKK’ Makowsky (561,000) and Rami ‘arbianight’ Boukai (508,000) as big stacks. Also remaining include but are certainly not limited to Surinder (French?) Sunar (213,000), recent WPT winner Cornel Cimpan (157,000), Amit ‘amak316′ Makhija (126,000), and Hevad Khan (63,000). Get full chip counts here.
:: Event #11 ($2,000 NLH): Man there were a lot of events going on yesterday. This one had 1,646 entrants with 232 making it to Day 2. Scott Hall is the overnight chip leader with 144,000. Phil Hellmuth and T.J. Cloutier still remain. Also alive is UFC ring announcer Bruce Buffer, who is putting the ladies aside for a bit to concentrate on winning his first bracelet. Watch his WSOP vlog here.
:: Event #12 ($10,000 World Championship Mixed Event): An impressive 194 person field ponied up $10k for the most diverse tourney in this year’s WSOP, consisting of eight different poker variants. After busting out (in the money) of the PLH/PLO event, Daniel Negreanu swung over to this one and quickly built up to big stack. Negreanu ended Day 1 as chip leader with 120,000. Plenty of big names among the 126 remaining, including Justin Bonomo, who vlogs about it in the below vid. Get full chip counts here.
