Peter Eastgate in Contention at EPT London Final Table

Watch Peter Eastgate Has Had Better Days on RawVegas.tv

The EPT London Main Event is down to seven at post-time, and Peter Eastgate, is in contention, currently stacked third overall. Looks like he’s having a better day than he did in the above vid.

He trails Aaron Gustavson (7,140,000) and Martin Gudvangen (5,500,000).

Annette Obrestad, a woman, finished 17th (£17,000) and Kevin Schaffel continued his 2009 heater, coming in 19th (£17,000).

Getting Schaffel at 12/1 for the November NineTM final table seems like a good value bet now. In related news, get Schaffel at 12/1 here.

Follow the final table action online here.

UPDATE: Eastgate now chip leader with four remaining…

UPDATE II: Eastgate now now heads-up, 2:1 chip deficit.

UPDATE III: Eastgate lost.

Poker Is Fun Again for New WPT Millionaire Prahlad Friedman

Prahlad Friedman is definitely reacquainting himself with the poker public.

Friedman is best known for his 2006 WSOP Main Event run, where he got into it with Jeffrey Lisandro (this was before Jeffrey Lisandro was Jeffrey Lisandro) and dropped the immortal ‘Poker Is Fun‘ on us.

Then, he kind of went AWOL for awhile.

Then, he made another deep run at this year’s WSOP ME, with ESPN already was giving him face time on Tuesday night’s Day 1D coverage. Fortunately, he didn’t bust any rhymes, leaving Jeff Madsen to go all Vanilla Ice on us.

Now, Friedman can claim his first WPT title, winning the Legends of Poker and banking just over one million dollars.

Somewhere in Las Vegas, Russ Hamilton is already scheming a way to rob Prahlad blind of this money and send him into a two year seclusion again.

Friedman defeated November NineTM hostage Kevin Schaffel ($471,670) heads-up for the title. Toto Leonidas finished fourth ($144,600).

November Nine Hostage Kevin Schaffel Final Table Chip Leader at WPT Legends

Prahlad Friedman

A rare photo of Prahlad Friedman sans hoodie over his head.

If Yogi Berra played poker, he’d probably would’ve once said, “When you’re running good, you are running good.” Yogi was smart like that.

Three players who made deep 2009 WSOP Main Event runs continued their good run at the WPT Legends of Poker.

November NineTM hostage Kevin Schaffel made a late charge to take the chip lead, starting final table play stacked at 2,234,000. Prahlad Friedman, who finished the Main Event in 64th place, is third overall in chip with 1,476,000. And Steven Begleiter, who was at or around the chip lead since Day 1, eventually bowed out in 9th place.

Also making the TV final table as short stack is Toto Leonidas with 580,000.

Final table play begins at 4pm PT. Follow live and get full chip counts and payouts here.

Two November Nine Hostages Among Top Three in Chips at WPT Legends of Poker

Two of these guys may make the WPT Legends of Poker...and the black guy isn't one of them.

Two of these people may make the WPT Legends of Poker...

Day 3 wrapped at the WPT Legends of Poker with two November NineTM hostages among the big stacks.

Davidson Matthew Club member Todd Terry ended play as chip leader, stacked at 850,000. He’s followed by N9′er s Kevin Schaffel (728,000) and Steven Begleiter (617,000). Chalk up a victory for the anonymous middle-aged upper-class white guy. About time our group caught a break. Yes we can!

The 24 remaining will come back today and play down to the final table. Notables remaining include James Mackey, a ginger (608,000), Toto Leonidas (456,000), Prahlad Friedman (451,000), Eric Hershler (180,000), and Carter King (119,000). No one else remaining is notable.

If Begleiter or Schaffel Did This, Then They’d Be Good for Poker (TM)

Ultimately at the end of the day, we love poker and want what is best for the game.

So we’ve been racking our collective brains trying to figure out what it would take to move Steve Begleiter and Kevin Schaffel out of the “Meh” column and into the “Good” one.

Which lead us to this: who doesn’t love seeing middle-aged white guys losing their shit on the dance floor? Next to getting blown, winning the lottery, and perhaps seeing the birth of your first-born child, there’s nothing better, right?

So if we can get some form of a commitment from Steve Begleiter or Kevin Schaffel to do the above Holy Ghost dance upon winning the WSOP Main Event, maybe, just maybe, it would lead to a boom of growth among the plus-50 crowd. One can only hope…
