This Week In Poker: Episode 5

Fifth Episode of This Week In Poker Now Up and Archived

Guests this past Tuesday included David “The Maven” Chicotsky, Lauren Kling, a woman, 2008 WCP’s Hottest Girl in Poker Lacey Jones, and host of ESPN’s Inside Deal and reporter for OK! Magazine, Laura Lane. If you missed it, watch it above or go to the official This Week In Poker page here.

The ep was longer than it’d take Greg Raymer to call it quits at an all-you-can eat buffet, so here’s a breakdown of where the guests joined the show.

2:55 – Double RainbowTM

7:04 – Victory Poker pro The Maven joins us to talk about his epic Day In The Life video, his training center with Bodog Ari, teaching Playboy Playmates how to play poker and what he thinks it will take for poker to get some real mainstream sponsors.

14:10 – We talk about CiCi’s pizza.

33:40 – Poker hottie Lauren Kling stops by briefly during a break at the 2010 WSOP Main Event.

43:00 – FOWCP Lacey Jones joins us for what she described as her favorite interview ever.

1:08:00 – ESPN’s Laura Lane dishes on celebrities, Lebron James, strip poker with Andrew Feldman and Bernard Lee and how her dad had to read an article where we discuss her vagina.

This Week In Poker is a live, interactive show where viewers submit question via Ustream, Facebook and Twitter. This is our final broadcast at the Rio. Starting next week, we’ll be doing the show from the This Week In studios in LA with their slick set up and production crew. With the set up at the Rio, the production/show format’s obviously rough right now, thanks for baring with us.

Thanks again to our sponsor, Victory Poker

Daniel Negreanu and Michael Binger are Nit-Twits

Daniel Negreanu and Michael Binger join Inside Deal this week. Negreanu talks about WSOPE (just a couple of days away, hard to believe). The two also square off in the first ever Inside Deal Nit-Twits (pretty funny, just watch it).

In related news, Laura Lane is still wearing too much clothing.

ESPN Inside Deal Premiered

Inside Deal, ESPN.com’s new weekly poker show, premiered yesterday.

Episode one featured Chris Moneymaker (he’s some guy who won some tournament once). While Face the Ace is a great concept that was poorly executed, Inside Deal is pretty straight forward (weekly news mag show), but it’s really well done. Assuming everyone Everyone just needs to lighten up, settles in, and start having fun. That happens, and it could be yet another solid step forward to poker reaching a broader sports audience…if espn.com gets off the schnide and promote it on the homepage.

Hopefully episode two has the “Laura Lane sexy photo shoot” segment in it. Feldman, make that happen.

Meet Laura Lane, Host of ESPN Inside Deal

Newcomer Laura Lane will helm ESPN's Inside Deal.

Newcomer Laura Lane will helm ESPN's Inside Deal.

Today ESPN confirmed the story we broke last week and announced they will launch a new online-only poker  show: Inside Deal.

The show will be hosted by poker newcomer Laura Lane, the man who has impressively gotten more mileage out of a 13th place finish in the Main Event than anyone in history Bernard Lee, and Andrew Feldman

Given Lane’s status as the only host with a vagina, let’s concentrate on her for a second. Lane, who has a disappointing lack of photos in FHM and MAXIM thus far in her brief career, has been a reporter for ESPN Magazine, OK!, and MTV News, and has been an on-air commentator on MSNBC and Extra. Not sure if we like the blonde or brunette look better yet. We’ll keep you posted. That shit is important.

Inside Deal’s first three month run begins August 4th and continues until the completion of the November NineTM.

View more photos of Lane below or on her website here.
