This Week In Poker With Trishelle Cannatella, Ty Stewart, Matt Savage & Matt Affleck

The latest ep of This Week in Poker is now online. Watch it above, or on YouTube here, or download/subscribe on iTunes.

Another packed show this week including an interview with WSOP VP Ty Stewart about the latest WSOP news plus he shares his thoughts on the new Poker Hall of Fame inductees and WSOP-Europe bracelet debate. Also joining us via skype live from the Festa al Lago was the WPT’s Matt Savage and Jess Welman with the Poker Headlines. Poker pro Matt Affleck, who just made a deep run at Festa al Lago and is getting serious ESPN face time right now, also skyped in to talk about playing online in Washington State and his now famous 15th place bust out in the Main Event this year.

And, prettying up our Santa Monica studio was our favorite poker playing reality show star Trishelle Cannatella, who answered a ton of viewer questions before taking on our Poker Metaphors Signifying You Have to Act Quickly Round.

Show notes/time-stamps to come.

PokerStars Blocks Washington State Residents from Real Money Poker

Matt Affleck 2010 WSOP Main Event

Matt Affleck probably had this same look on his face when he tried logging into PokerStars this morning.

Matt Affleck‘s tweet about an hour ago pretty much says it all:

@mcmattopoker: So fucking tilted over washington player ban from stars. Fml I run so fcking bad

Affleck, who’s made consecutive deep runs in the WSOP Main Event the past two years, including his brutal-to-watch bust out in 15th place this year (our podcast with him afterward here), recently bought a condo in Seattle but may be looking to pack up and leave the state after PokerStars’ announcement today that it has stopped offering real-money poker to residents of Washington State.

Read PokerStars full statement about blocking players here. An FAQ page for Washington State Residents here.

The decision by Stars follows an unanimous ruling by the Washington State Supreme Court on Sept. 23 denying lawyer/poker player Lee Rousso’s challenge to the state’s prohibition on Internet gambling. Rousso has said he will appeal the decision to the US Supreme Court.

Read the Supreme Court ruling here.

Matt Affleck Rebounded Quickly

Matt Affleck's elimination was brutal to watch but he's on the mend...

If you’re following the 2010 WSOP Main Event on Twitter, you saw a flurry of “that sucked to watch” after Matt Affleck‘s elimination.

After some alone time in his room, Affleck did what any other respectable recent college grad and fraternity guy would do: a shot, then a few beers.

He’s feeling much better, and we caught up with his thoughts on the elimination and plans for the future.

In related news, 11 left in the WSOP. Follow WCP on Twitter for updates here.

Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi will need a lot of help to make the November Nine.

With 300 Left Here’s Our Ideal Final Table

We’re at dinner break of Day 5 of the 2010 WSOP Main Event. There are about 300 or so remaining and exactly 2 women.

Looking at who’s left, here is our double rainbow of a November NineTM:

Fokke Beukers, Phil ‘OMGClayAiken’ Galfond, Johnny Chan, Jean-Robert Bellande, Imari Love, Breeze Zuckerman, Dragan Galic*, Scotty Nguyen

It’s a perfect list. First, you’ve got a guy named Fokke Beukers. You’ve got an online icon with OMGClayAiken. You’ve got a villian in Johnny Chan. Jean-Robert needs the $$$. Imari Love is an African-American. Breeze Zuckerman, a woman, is a sweet woman. Dragan Galic is not a real dragon. And Scotty Nguyen baby. Perfect.

However, looking at the list, here’s who we anticipate will make the N9:

Sanghyon Cheong, Richard Morgan, Farshad Fardad, Pascal LeFrancois, Bojan Gledovic, Ted Ely, Todd Brick, Damien Luis, Cuong Nguyen

Whatever. Matt Affleck is the current chip leader. Fokke Beukers, Clay Aiken, Johnny Chan, and Jean-Robert Bellande are in the top 50. Get full chip counts here.

Fokke Beukers.

* Not a real dragan.
