Tom 'durrrr' Dwan (right foreground) is sweated by his if-Tara-Reid-didn't-do-tons-of-drugs-this-is-what-she'd-maybe-look-like-now girlfriend at Event #3 of the 2009 WSOPE.

Some quick updates from the 2009 WSOP Europe:

:: As we wrote earlier, Erik Cajelais won Event #2 (£2,500 Pot Limit Hold’em/Omaha), banking £104,677. Men “The Master” Nguyen finished fourth. Go to PokerListings here for an interview with The Master where he denies all of the cheating and chip dumping allegations from his past. Don’t know if we’ve seen him talk about that one before.

:: Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan is looking to clear forum rumors about his sexuality capture his first bracelet by bringing his hot-ass girlfriend to sweat him winning Event #3 (£5,000 Pot Limit Omaha). With 26 of the initial 154 starting field remaining, durrrr holds the chip lead. Other big named big stacks include Howard Lederer, Sandra Naujoks (a woman), Robert Williamson III, and Barry Greenstein. Get full reporting here (click the Live Reporting link). Side note: durrrr’s chick has a hot friend with her too…we’ll use her pic for a future update post.

:: And according to this tweet, it looks like Phil Hellmuth gets to make his grand Caesar entrance to the WSOPE Main Event too.

UPDATE: durrrr is crippled. Not like, Jimmy Vulmer crippled, but he lost a big pot after flopping top set. Will probably go out in 14th place after dinner break. Related, Jimmy Vulmer at his best here.

WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic: Raj Patel, Last Year’s Winner, Leading Day 1

WptlogoWhile this year’s WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic has been swimming in some cold water (only 346 started, 219 remain), there are lots of big names among the early big stacks.

Leading them all after Day 1 is last year’s winner Raj Patel, who may possibly be from India. And unlike a plate of Gosht Vindaloo, something about the Foxwoods Poker Classic must sit well with Raj, who hasn’t done much of anything before or after last year’s win. He’s stacked at 194,000.

Other big named big stacks include Barry Greenstein (152,000), Erik Seidel (98,000), Ted Forrest (97,300), Men "The Master" Nguyen (86,000), Nam Le (85,000), Erick Lindgren (84,000), and "Glum Girl" Svetlana Gromenkova (68,700), who at least is looking a little less glum today.

Men the Master Tilts Erick Lindgren, Takes Lead at WPT World Poker Open

Men 'The Master' Nguyen Leads at WPT World Poker OpenDay 3 of the WPT World Poker Open, a non ladies-only event, is underway at the Gold Strike Casino in Tunica, Mississippi, and already the chipleader at the start of the day, Erick Lindgren, has been sent to the rail by an inebriated-ly obnoxious Men "The Master" Nguyen.

Not much more than 30 minutes after the start of play today, the two pros faced off in a big hand after the flop, with Lindgren pushing all-in after Nguyen raised Lindgren’s lead-out bet. With the board showing Qh-4h-3d, Nguyen called and turned over pocket Queens and Lindgren showed Ah-10h for a nut flush draw. The turn and river came up black and blank, and as the WPT live blog reports:

Nguyen gets up from the table and really starts to celebrate, screaming, "Yes!" After a minute of this Lindgren says, "Act like you’ve been there before." To which, Freddy Deeb pipes in with, "We’re not on TV yet." Nguyen counts out his chips and after Lindgren pays him off he holds 80,000.

Full hand details here.

Marginally crippled and visibly irritated, Lindgren then pushed all in with Ad-7d only to be called by Nguyen, who held As-9s. The board would be no help, sending Lindgren to the rail in 24th place ($12,060).

After 4+ hours of playing Wii Tennis in the midst of writing this post, we see that a few big name players, including John Phan, TJ Cloutier and Barry Greenstein, have been eliminated, but several top pros are still in the hunt with 13 players left including still-the-chipleader Nguyen, a "short AND bald" Freddy Deeb, the certifiably insane Dutch Boyd, Hoyt Corkins and John Spadavecchia.

———–

UPDATE: Final table is set. Half-man half-amazing Freddy Deeb leads with 1,345,000. He’s followed by Brett Faustman (1,282,000), Gabe Costner (1,181,000), Men Nguyen (729,000), Hoyt Corkins (395,000), and John Spadavecchia (256,000).
