"Maximum cheeze shippage.£170,802 ($267,010). Plus some gold! Holla!!," tweeted Laak after winning his first WSOP bracelet.
Six weeks after Evel Knieveling off an ATV and breaking all sorts of shit and nearly losing an eye, Phil Laak grabbed his first WSOP bracelet today by taking down Event #1 (£2,650 NLH Six-Handed) at the 2010 WSOP Europe in London. The win earns him £170,802 and impressively follows two deep runs already this month at the English Poker Open and the Partouche Poker Tour in fuck you France.

Our “This Week In Poker” interview with Laak about his ATV accident and injuries here.
In related WSOP Europe news, Event #2 (£5,250 Pot-Limit Omaha) is underway, drawing 120 runners, including Laak. At the dinner break, Dario Alioto, Chad Brown and 2010 WSOP November Niner John Racener were among the early leaders.

Brit Jessica Jane Clement has yet to appear at the 2010 WSOP Europe. Yet.
Ok ok we get it. The WSOP Europe is still getting its proverbial feet wet. It’s nowhere near the size and scale of the U.S. American version. That’s fine.
But still, what’s this one-event-a-day shit? If poker is really booming that much in the Old World, and all of these “legal” sites can theoretically dump a bunch of idiot Northern Europeans into tournaments, can’t they expand the number of events and participants just a little? Does Europe not have convention areas capable of handling more than 300 people at a time? Did they lose a war?*
Anyway, 2010 WSOP Europe Event #1 (£2,650 NLH Six-Handed) played down to its final table table. Among the notables chasing a bracelet are Chris Bjorin (368,500) and Phil Laak (317,000). If Laak were to pull through for the victory, it would be the biggest comeback ever by a poker player 6-weeks after almost losing an eyeball and breaking all sorts of shit during an ATV accident.
They both trail overall chip leader Andrew Pantling (627,000).
Get full chip counts here.
* The answer to this is “no” because we keep bailing them out.

I bet you you can't drive an ATV through that tree...
According to trusted news source Twitter, Phil Laak was ATV’ing in Oregon with pal Antonio Esfandiari. Things were going great. Life was good. Until Laak wrecked his ATV.
The accident left the Unabomber with seven broken bones and a lacerated eye.
That would basically be the opposite of a double rainbow.
In somewhat related news, Jennifer Tilly still has fantastic breasts.

The heavyset fellow she used to date is second overall at the PPPL4(TM).
Phil Laak won another heat
TM of the
PartyPoker Premier League IV. This means he’s won all three heats he’s played, effectively going back-to-back-to-back
TM.
However, since we don’t understand the rules of this whole thing yet, he doesn’t exactly have a dominating point lead over David Benyamine, who he defeated heads-up en route to the aforementioned third heat win.
Laak’s win gives him 48 points to Benyamines 35 (see here), whatever that means. Doesn’t seem as dominating as someone who has won three heats, whatever they are worth, should have. You’d think after winning three heats, you’d have this thing sown up, right?
Anyway, we’re definitely heading down there tomorrow and will be on-hand for the final day on Thursday as well to make sense of it all.
Follow Tuesday’s quote unquote heat here.
