We’re two weeks out from when news originally broke about PokerStars acquiring Full Tilt Poker. While no officially announcement has come from either PokerStars or Full Tilt regarding the progress of the deal...
Well this is interesting. While we can’t get any official word yet, we are hearing significant chatter among players and local Vegas gaming sources that the Palms casino may end up having to...
The above is a clip from the December 16th special CNBC Investigates: The Big Business of Illegal Gambling.
While nothing in the above gives any hint that online poker will be discussed (which reminder for everyone: playing it is not illegal), we do know that the RawVegas.tvRuss Hamilton ambush video will be used somewhere in it.
Should fit well with the dark, ominous, seedy tones in the above vid.
In the first of many “hey here are our favorite posts of the past year” posts, we bring you (again) the Russ Hamilton ambush video.
RawVegas.tv got a tip that Hamilton was playing golf at a popular Vegas course, and waited for him to finish his round. Watching this 10 months later, it’s even more incredibly awkward and uncomfortable than we remembered.
Word is this footage may appear on a CNBC special hosted by Bill Kurtis regarding online poker cheating scandals in December.

They say if you have bad news, release it on Friday. And if it’s really, really bad, release it on Friday, September 11, late in the day when the Entities are only thinking about shit like who the next Friday Night Parting Shot Girl should be.
With that said, it should come as no surprise that the folks at the Kahnawake Gaming Commission did the latter in waiting to release its final decision with regard to the Ultimate Bet online poker cheating scandal.
The findings are the result of a year long investigation into the scamming of millions of dollars from players allegedly conducted by Russ Hamilton and others at Ultimate Bet from June 2003 up until December 2007. As a result of the investigation Ultimate Bet’s owner Tokwiro Enterprises has been forced to pay $1.5 million in fines and reimburse more than $22 million to the players affected by the cheating.
Most noteworthy from the report is that a total of 31 individuals other than Hamilton (who was already named a year ago) have been identified by the KGC as being associated with the cheating scam, and all names have been turned over to law enforcement authorities (who knows where though). The names have not been released publicly but all 117 usernames are included in the report (click post image to see them all).
Our hunch is that it won’t be long before some others are named publicly, including some known poker pros.
After the jump, some noteworthy nuggets from the 11-page document the KGC released (download PDF here):
About halfway through the interview, Gary describes how RawVegas.tv "very rudely" intruded on Layne and Russ' "private time" (because, you know, allegedly stealing at least $6 million from your friends and then going AWOL isn't even remotely rude). Layne says that when he saw the cameras, he "knew that wasn't a spot for me to be in."
Layne also said that he knows "for a fact that Russ Hamilton's lawyer said 'don't say a word.'"
Now the one thing we always felt Layne was unfairly skewered for in that video was that he may have just been golfing with Russ because he's a gambler and saw an edge he could exploit. Makes sense. Pretty common. Layne says that that's a "fair" assessment of why he was with Russ that day. Not that we were expecting him to say something else though.
But then Layne completely discredits himself by saying, "If [Russ] took all of this money…how can one man do this without being caught?" to which Gary said, "That totally makes sense."
Yeah, kind of hard to believe how Russ could get away with something like that with a company that he started and was integral in developing the software for…inconceivable.
Hey, while we're talking about Russ Hamilton, (not surprisingly) Mike Matusow had some things to say. Matusow is kind of like a (degenerate gambling version of) fine wine…the dude is getting better (and more entertaining) with age.
