Poker Blogger Shaniac Looking Good

Shane "Shaniac" Schleger ended up with a handful of chips after Day 1 of the $3,000 Triple NLH Shootout event.

Shane "Shaniac" Schleger ended up with a nice handful of chips after Day 1 of the $3,000 Triple NLH Shootout event.

We totally weren’t keeping abreast of how Shane “Shaniac” Schleger was doing yesterday in Event #52 ($3,000 NLH) until our photog shared some photos of him. Looks like he’s doing well. The poker blogger/pro heads in to Day 2 with 100,700 in chips.

Be sure to check out Shaniac’s colorful blog here. We read it for the pictures.

More photos from yesterday here and here.

Shannon Shorr Thinks He Should Be in NBC Heads Up, Shaniac Thinks He’s “Delusional”

Not-shannon-shorr
More in line with what we think a "Shannon Shorr" should look like…

Our favorite guy-with-a-hot-porn-star's name Shannon Shorr is "shocked" that he failed to make the 64-person NBC National Heads Up Poker Championship field again.

In his latest blog, Shorr says:

"I will go on record (as I did after the 2006 calendar year) as saying I'm shocked that I don't make the list. After very closely examining the list, Michael Binger, Nam Le, Sebastian Ruthenberg, Michael Martin, Vivek Rajkumar, Amit Makhija, Adam Geyer and Hevad Khan are probably somewhere wondering WTF! as well. No one in the poker tournament industry besides Nam Le, JC Tran, and David Pham has matched my consistency over the last 3 years on the tournament circuit and in that time I have NEVER been selected to play the NBCHUPC."

While Shorr definitely has been one of the most consistent players around, he has gotten virtually no TV time, so he really has no argument here. Shane "Shaniac" Schleger seems to agree, although in more blunt terms than us. Shaniac calls out Shorr's "distinctly delusional blog post" and writes:

"Shannon, get a grip. You should be ashamed for putting yourself in the same sentence as Le, Tran, and Pham, who essentially dwarf the entire poker tour community with consistency and moneymaking."

Read in full here.

UPDATE: Shannon Shorr still not in. Ivan Demidov had to drop out and is replaced by Hevad Khan.

UPDATE II: Got a TOKE coming later today with a bunch of hot models and GoDaddy.com at Caesar's…developing.

Phil Hellmuth is Persistent

Hellmuthheadshot_1There’s an epic song that describes Phil Hellmuth circa summer 2006. It goes something like, "I get knocked down, but I get up again, no you’re never gonna keep me down…"

Yes, Phil Hellmuth is the walking talking living breathing version of Tubthumping. Hopefully Hellmuth won’t be pissing another night away by not closing out a WSOP event.

Because after coming thisclose not once, but twice, Hellmuth finds himself…dare we say…"in position" yet again to claim that ever-elusive and record-tying 10th bracelet.

Hellmuth is second in chips (by 100) in the $1,000 NLH with rebuys event, stacked at 109,600.

Ween_thepodHe trails only noted Internet pro Shane "Shaniac" Schlegler, whose name would be a bitch to say if he had a lisp or a fat tongue, who’s stacked at 109,700. Editor’s note: Schlegler’s Poker Stars icon is a picture taken off of Ween’s first album (The Pod). This guy gets major, major WCP points for that.

Anyway, as stated on this very website before, we’d like to see Hellmuth pull this 10th bracelet out. He’s often not given his just due as a player (by anyone except himself), and plus, anybody who wants anything this badly deserves it already. It’s like that time that Wicked Chops Poker really wanted that yacht, mansion, and 72 virgin Brazalian models and we got all of that except it ended up being 87 virgins because that’s how badly we wanted it. Life lesson of the day: you can do anything you put your minds to, kids.

Of the 61 (from 754) remaining, notables include: Hasan Habib, Joe Bartholdi, Juha Helppi, James Van Alstyne, Tony G, David Plastik, 2006 WSOP bracelet winner Rafael Perry, that guy with a girl’s name who did something no man has ever done before (Shannon Shorr), Joe Sebok, John Spadavecchia, Bill Gazes, Humberto Brenes, and Mark Seif. IE there’s a lot of notables remaining.

Another side note: Daniel Negreanu rebought 48 times in this event. Not kidding.
