2011 WSOP: Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan Doesn’t Slightly Less Decimate Poker Economy Again

Everyone was watching to see if Tom 'durrrr' Dwan could capture his first WSOP bracelet. Except this girl.

Due to the 10-Level RuleTM, no bracelets were awarded yesterday. Most eyes were on Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan as he challenged for another bracelet. Here’s the latest.

:: Event #36 ($2,500 NLH)The man the myth the legend, Black Phil Ivey, Big Sldick, the one and only Dwyte Pilgrim went deep in another large field NLH event, but fell just short of the final table (and elusive first bracelet. Pilgrim bowed out in 15th ($33,294). Play was stopped with five remaining. Brit Thomas Middleton holds the chip lead. Get full chip counts here.

:: Event #37 ($10,000 H.O.R.S.E.) – This one was stopped with just two remaining. When play resumes, Fabrice Soulier, a frog, will come back with a massive chip lead (6,290,000) over Shawn Buchanan (910,000). Most of the attention during the event was on Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan, who made another run at his first bracelet. While durrrr still has meaningful bracelet bets, a lot of those bets from last year involved Tilt equity, sooooooo…not as big of a payoff / decimation of the poker economy anymore. Regardless, durrrr is one of the few individual players that gets the Amazon Room buzzing when he makes a deep run. He banked $134,480 for his fifth place finish. Get full results here.

:: Event #38 ($1,500 NLH) - A total of 23  remain from the starting 2,192. Perry Lin (1,000,000) leads. Melanie Weisner, a woman, is fifth overall with 549,000. Get full chip counts here.

:: Event #39 ($2,500 PLH/PLO) – A total of 22 remain. David Lestock leads with 452,000. Also alive are The Intense Stare of Scott Clements (359,000) and Salty Joe Hachem (153,000). First pays $310,225. Get full chip counts here.

:: Event #40 ($5,000 NLH Six-Handed) – The final event of the day played down from 732 to 175. Last year’s November Niner Matthew Jarvis ended play as big stack with 303,800. He’s followed by Randy Dorfman with 280,000. Some notables remaining include Daniel Negreanu (162,600), Tuan Le Memorial namesake Tuan Le (130,000), and Phil Hellmuth (89,800). First place pays out $808,538. Get full chip counts here.

Durrrr Challenge 2 > Durrrr Challenge 1 (UPDATED)

Extree--extree--read all about it...Durrrr Challenge 2 underway...

The second installment of the Durrrr ChallengeTM got underway yesterday.

Much like Godfather Part 2, The Empire Strikes Back, the second season of Temptation Island, or the second time in the same day when you were sex as teenager, it looks like the second go-around will be much better than the first.

In this edition, Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan is taking on Daniel ‘jungleman12′ Cates. With 5,829 hands already in the books after one session, Cates surged to an early lead, posting a $518,000 profit.

Of course, the first Durrrr Challenge is still going on after 18 months, with Patrik Antonius so far behind, it doesn’t really matter anymore. Antonius needs to make like France and surrender already.

For those who need a refresher on the challenge:
- You play durrrr 50,000 hands of $200/$400 or higher on four tables at a time.
- If either player drops below 75 big blinds at any point…reload.
- Durrrr laid 3:1 odds on his victory.
- At the conclusion of the 50,000 hands, if durrrr is ahead by $1 or more, his opponent must fork ship $500,000 to durrrr (along with whatever was lost, of course, during play). If durrrr’s opponent is ahead by $1 or more, then he would ship $1.5 million to said opponent.

UPDATE: Jungleman increased his lead over durrrr in another session, now posting almost a $700,000 lead. Additionally, there is a “run it twice” option for the whole challenge. Track the challenge more closely here.

In completely unrelated news, more Kelly Brook Playboy outtakes here (NSFW).

Here’s A List of Things That Have Happened Since Durrrr Challenge Began

Rick Pitino wishes he had the longevity of the Durrrr Challenge.

On February 18, 2009, the Durrrr Challenge officially kicked off.

For some of our newer readers or those who don’t really follow what’s happening online, here are the basics: Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan issued an open challenge to any member of the poker community (except for his good friend Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond). The challenge requires you to play durrrr in 50,000 hands of $200/$400 or higher on four tables at a time. After 50,000 hands, if durrrr is ahead by $1 or more, you pay him $500,000. If you are ahead by $1 or more, durrrr pays you $1.5 million. Of course, the winner also keeps whatever money he won over the course of the 50,000 hands.

The first to step up to the challenge was Patrik Antonius. Durrrr and Patrik just wrapped another session a couple of days ago. A total of 39,436 hands have been played now, and durrrr has a massive $2,059,719 lead.

With 10,500ish hands to go, it could be awhile before this thing wraps and durrrr takes on his next opponent (Brian Townsend? Jungleman12?). So with that in mind, here are a list of things that have happened in the world since durrrr announced he’d play Patrik Antonius:

Add to the list in the comments section, please. Have at it.

Big day today. First, we’ll be on the Ante Up for Africa red carpet around noon.
