Jake Cody Wins WPT London Main Event; Justin Smith Wins High Rollers

Nothing about this picture of Jake Cody feels like he won a WPT title, does it?

Time to ease back into poker news reporting after a nice long Labor Day weekend. On a side note, we’ll be a little light on posts this week as we prep for our Girls on the Rail Hall of Fame voting (yes, voting really is going to start this week), something that requires way more effort than you’d think.

Anyway…

It’s been a big year for 21 year-old Jake Cody.

Back in January, the Brit won the EPT Deauville, clearing over $1.2M. Nine months later, Cody takes down his first World Poker Tour title, winning the WPT London for $425,492.

Get full results here.

And in related news, Justin “BoostedJ” Smith won the WPT High Rollers event, defeating Tony G heads-up. Smith banks $219,131 for the win. G takes home $131,479 for second, and Freddy Deeb banked $87,653 for third.

Get full recaps sort of from the PartyPoker blog–a reporting site which might solely exist to make you appreciate just how good the WPT reporting live update site is–here.

isildur1 Backs Out of PartyPoker Big Game IV

So much for that.

isildur1 has backed out of the PartyPoker Big Game IV, which is set to begin on Sunday.

According to Poker News (here), isil sent Tony G a text that said: “Sry for not coming, take care bud.”

Let’s put aside the fact that that text sounds decidedly not Swedish (“take care bud” sounds more “Southern fraternity” than “Stockholm trendy”)…wtf already. Listen isildur1, if you’re really Viktor Blom, it’s a worse kept secret than Cartman being The Coon. If you’re gonna commit to playing something live, don’t back out. Your countrymate Pernilla Lundberg wouldn’t pull this shit.

In related news, super hot Pernilla Lundberg pics here.

Prahlad Friedman Breaks Steve Nash’s Free Throw Record

If you missed last night’s episode of Poker2Nite on Versus, here’s the clip of Prahlad Friedman sinking 23 free throws in 60 seconds with just one ball and one rebounder, breaking Steve Nash’s record of 21. And this guy’s record as well.

Of note, unlike Nash and the other guy, Prahlad did this outdoors with the sun, wind and shadows to contend with. Much more difficult.

Below is another clip from last night’s episode in which Tony G all but confirms who Isildur1 is and Dana Workman all but confirms that Jennicide has huge boobs.

Isildur1 Accepts Tony G’s Offer To Play In Televised Live Cash Game

We would not be upset if it turned out this was isildur1. Just sayin

Not sure if R. Kelly had anything to do with it but Isildur1 is finally coming out.

The nose-bleed online player who has kept his identity hidden has accepted Tony G’s staking offer to play a televised live cash game. Isildur1 will join Tony G., Isaac Haxton, Phil Laak, Jennifer Tillyy, a woman, and others at the PartyPoker.com Big Game IV at the Les Ambassadeurs club in Mayfair, London on April 11-13.

Also playing is British high-stakes player Luke Schwartz, who said last week that he knew for sure that Isildur1 was in fact Viktor Blom, a claim Tony G himself made last year but has since retracted.

It’s still uncertain whether Isildur1 will play with a mask on, as offered by Tony G.

Read more about it here and here.

BREAKING: Tiffany Michelle’s Statement on Poker News and Tony G

Tiffany Michelle issues statement about PokerNews and Tony G
Tiffany Michelle Official Statement – Thursday, July 17, 2008

It is with great sadness that I’ve had to see my accomplishment of finishing 17th in the WSOP Main Event clouded by slanderous accusations and inaccurate information. I have been humbled by the overwhelming support from friends, fans and the media and for their sake as well as mine I feel as if I must respond and bring clarity to the situation.

There is no denying the positive press and exposure I brought Pokernews by wearing their logo and being their representative during the 2008 World Series of Poker main event. After such a successful series, I am greatly dismayed by Pokernews’ subsequent actions. No one has ever questioned my integrity before this and I am so distressed that Pokernews is using their powerful public forum to spin such a negative recounting of the facts of what occurred during the final two days of the main event.
