Vinnie Vinh is like an Asian strung-out version of Roy Hobbs. The guy is a natural. He doesn’t that play much anymore for whatever reasons, but when he does, he seems to crush (until he turns it over for his chair to take over, at least).
Vinh captured his first tournament since September 2009, winning LAPC Event #29 ($220 NLH Turbo) and banking $12,000 (after a three-way chop). This was his fifth cash at the 2011 LAPC.
Xiangxue Chen finished 16th ($690).

Lingering 2011 LAPC Event #1 question: Will Vinny Vinh let his chair do the talking on Day 2?
The 2011 LAPC kicked off this weekend with a $335 NLH event that brought in a massive field of 4,179 (and total prize pool of $1,191,015).
A total of 82 survived the four Day 1 flights. While the remaining field is a fairly anonymous assortment that includes more Nguyens, Phans, and Trans than a Vietnamese phone book, one name certainly stands out from the pack: Vinny Vinh.
Possibly inspired to earn his tour card in that newly announced but yet-to-be-named professional poker league/tour/thingy, Vinh will take the 28th biggest stack into Day 2 play. Whether or not he lets his chair take him to the finish line remains to be seen.
Time to step it up, Vinnie Vinh's chair. Vinnie is making a comeback!
It’s been awhile since we last heard from Vinnie Vinh.
Who knows where he’s been or what he’s been up to, other than it probably involves the words, “drugs,” “hookers,” “more drugs,” “chemicals that can be hardened into a rock and smoked,” “strip clubs,” “needles,” “sleeping,” and “oh uh you sure did look like a woman last night.”*
Anyway, after being outperformed by his chair repeatedly at the WSOP, the flesh and blood version of Vinh captured his first tourney title in a while, taking down the Commerce Hold’em Series Event #10 ($335 NLH).
For the win, Vinh banks $14,006 plus a $2,580 seat to the “Main Event.”
