WPT World Poker Finals Underway, Streaming Online With Hole Cards

WPT Royal Flush Girl Sunisa Kim

Look for Sunisa Kim and the other RFGs on the live stream of the WPT World Poker Finals.

The final table of the WPT World Poker Finals at Foxwoods is underway, and it’s being streamed online with hole cards on a 30-minute delay here. Hosting the broadcast is Tony Dunst, with former WPT POY Jonathan Little, who just missed the final six (finishing 8th), in the special guest seat.

Chip leader at the start of play today is Steven Brackesy with 1,807,000 in chips. Also over the 1 mil mark is Christian Harder (1,293,000) and  Daniel Santoro (1,163,000). Harder, who has $667,294 in WPT earnings –a big chunk of which came from his 4th place finish at the Season VII WPT Championship, will become the Next WPT MillionaireTM if he captures the event’s first place prize of $449,910.

Fourth and fifth in chips, but surely first in the hearts of their friends and family (aka the sole people following them today), are Bob Carbone and Eli Berg (588k, 496k respectively). Reigning WPT POY Andy Frankenberger has reached his 3rd WPT final table, this time as the small stack with 374,000.  Blinds are at 8,000/16,000 ante 2,000.

Kara Scott Among Day 1A Leaders at WPT Bay 101

Best photo of Kara Scott

Best photo of Kara Scott ever?

A total of 142 players entered Day 1A of the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star with 57 making it to Day 2.

Leading at the end of the day — and earning a $10,000 bonus for doing so — is Brian Schmidt with 187,700. He’s followed by Eric Moore with 160,000, and Kara Scott, a woman, who is stacked oh-so-nicely and has 137,100 in chips. The suspiciously named Mehrdad Nouralishahi (136k) ends the day in fourth and Layne Flack rounds out the top five with just over 131k.

Of the 19 “Shooting StarsTM” who started, nine survived including the aforementioned Scott and Flack, Mike Matusow (127,200), Brandon Cantu (117k), John Juanda (85k), Gavin Smith (67K) and the man the myth the legend, Black Phil Ivey, Big Sldick, the one and only Dwyte Pilgrim (52k).

John Krpan has 20k.

WPT Celebrity Invitational Is This Weekend

Natasha Alam

True Blood's Natasha Alam is the actress we'd most like to have a last longer with this weekend.

The always a good time WPT Celebrity Invitational is this weekend at the Commerce, and among the celebrities set to attend include Don “Fucking” Cheadle, Hank Azaria, Josh Malina, Dr. Phil McGraw, Randy Couture, Coco Crisp, Jose Canseco, Sean Astin, Samm Levine, Mekhi Phiffer, Mimi Rogers and, representing the “inferior brothers” contingent, Daniel Baldwin and Donnie Walberg. See a full list here.

More importantly, all three of the Entities Who Comprise Wicked Chops Poker will once again be playing when action starts Saturday around 8pm PST, and chances are there’s a chance we may be “live tweeting” the event, so follow @wickedchops just in case we do.

Finally, and most importantly, the WPT Celebrity Invitational consistently draws a slew of hot reality TV chicks, Playboy Playmates and actresses that keeps our photographer busy (look for pics here next week), and this year’s no exception. Among those “tentatively” scheduled to appear include Sara Jean Underwood, Kelly Monaco, Hope Dworaczyk and this year’s winner in the pre-event number of Google Image searches, Natasha Alam of True Blood. Damn.

Below, photos of the girls we’d most like to see at our table this weekend.

Melanie Iglesias is the 2010 Maxim Hometown Hotties Winner (PHOTOS)

Melanie Iglesias

With photos like this, the other Hometown Hotties didn't stand much of a chance against Melanie Iglesias.

It hasn’t quite been a Good for PokerTM past few days with the Reid Bill dying a slow death and 2010 WSOP Main Event runner-up John Racener getting his third DUI. So here to turn things around this Monday morning is news that WPT Royal Flush Girl Melanie Iglesias has been named Maxim’s 2010 Hometown Hotties winner.

Melanie, who besides being insanely hot is also super sweet in a kid-sister kind of way, but thankfully isn’t your kid sister because she’s insanely hot, beat out more than 7,000 contestants nationwide, including 9 other finalists, to take the title. She’ll now spend the next year covering red carpets as a Maxim spokesperson, and more importantly, gracing the pages of Wicked Chops Poker repeatedly.

Big congrats to Melanie, and well done WPT. No doubt this should get more eyeballs tuned in when Melanie and the other RFGs appear on the Season IX broadcasts starting this February.

Below a few of the photos that sealed the deal for Melanie. Also, check out her appearance on This Week In Poker back in October here. ‘Like’ her on Facebook here.

World Poker Tour Season IX Promo Looks Good

The above is the sizzle promo the WPT put together to show off the “new look” for its Season IX broadcast, and we have to say, it looks pretty good. Hard to screw things up though with longtime WCP fave Kimberly Lansing in the anchor seat. Add in the insanely hot Royal Flush Girls and we’d be watching if it was a show about how to boil water.

Tune into This Week In Poker today (watch live here at 4pm PT) to hear our thoughts on the changes, including the 4-color deck and Tony “Bond18 OnlineTM” Dunst’s Raw Deal segment.

For now, click away below at a few of our favorite additions to Season IX.
