I had always wondered if he appreciated it or was embarrassed of them but when I saw the aside on the telecast where he said to another player he has known them since he was 18, it felt to me that he likes them a lot as well. They supported him before he was "Phil Ivey" and it appears they saw something in him at a young age that even Phil himself probably did not.
