Wasn’t this supposed to be the Year of the WomanTM?
We’re 12 events into the 2010 WSOP, which means 12 bracelets have been given out… to 12 men. If our math math math math is correct here, that means approximately 0 women have won a bracelet.
So far, the best showing is a third place finish in the $1,500 PLH event by J.J. Liu, a woman.
With 45 more open event bracelets left to be awarded, there’s still plenty of time. However, a woman–some woman–any woman– is going to have to step up and make a run already.
There are high expectations for the fresh-faced/padunkadonked Annette Obrestad, a woman. Brit headbanger Liv Boeree, a woman, is coming off an impressive EPT win. The old guard of female poker players – Annie Duke (a woman), Jen Harman (a woman), Cyndy Violette (a woman), et al. (all women)- are all due a place in the spotlight.
But who will it be? Only Cyndy Violette and Shannon Shorr remain in Event #15, so that’s not likely. The women still have a shot, but as of right now the odds are in our favor to not see Matusow run down the Strip naked.
